Reinvent your makeup station with this colorful and easy to create upcycled brush holder. Just follow the simple guide below and get started!

Step 1: Gather The Essentials

Before we get started, make sure you have all of the supplies below.

You will need:
  • Coffee Filters
  • Watercolor Paints
  • Modge Podge
  • Old Brushes
  • Used 3-Wick Jar Candle

Step 2: Clean it Good

Make sure your candle jar is squeaky clean and washed thoroughly with no wax left behind. Use this tutorial by MŌDA® Maven @lovingbeautyandlife for help on removing excess wax and wick remnants from your jar.

Step 3: Let Out Your Inner Artist

Using watercolor paints and old makeup brushes, paint coffee filters in your preferred colors. Don’t worry about making a pattern or being precise, covering the white of the filter is the important part. Once finished, let them dry completely.

Step 4: Get To Ripping

Once completely dry, rip the painted coffee filters into 1-2” pieces.

Step 5: Modge Podge It Up

Next, paint a thin layer of Modge Podge on the inside of the clean, empty candle jar.

Step 6: Get Sticky

Stick some of the ripped-up pieces directly to the inside of the jar, lying them as flat as possible. They should overlap and stick up over the top of the jar. This step is not going to look very pretty - it’s a trust-the-process moment!

Step 7: Keep It Going

Continue layering the painted coffee filter pieces. Paint additional thin layers of Modge Podge as needed. Once the layers of painted filters are built to your desired opacity, let them dry for 24 hours.

Step 8: Get It Exact(o)

Carefully remove the excess paper from the top of the jar with a craft knife or small scissors.

Step 9: Finishing Touches

Apply stickers to the outside of the jar to finish!

Step 10: Enjoy

Fill your upcycled project with your favorite MŌDA® brushes. Display it on any vanity or makeup station and enjoy!
